Soul or spirit is the most forgotten part of our being whereas it is a critical element that plays a crucial role in everything we do in life and ultimately the kind of individual we become. As a result of ignoring or forgetting the spiritual part of our existence, we either don’t believe in the divine or even if we believe, we either don’t pray or we don’t feel sweetness in our acts of worship. This video is for you if you often find your mind busy catching up with demands and expectations to the extent that you have lost connection with your heart. This conversation highlights the forgotten aspect of our being, which is our real essence, the soul. We are spiritual beings in essence but in this lifetime we are going through earthly physical experience. Yet the challenge and the ultimate test of this life is to let the pure nature of our souls run the show in this physical theatre of life and help us achieve true human excellence. The majority of humans are more weighted in the physical side of being to the negligence of their souls. This has lead to a wide range of dilemmas, predicaments, wars and human rights abuse humans have suffered for ages. Our spiritual side is essentially ethical and in perfect harmony with the divine principles of justice, mercy, compassion, and beauty. However, the physical aspect of who we are is limited to the narrow range of existence we call physical reality. Those who let the “self” side of who they are run the scene experience lack even when they possess everything. They want more when they have accumulated more than they need and there is no end to the greed of this “self.” It can only see lack and it always wants more. Here is an effort to understanding the fundamental difference between the “self” and the “soul” and how to educate our youth and help them discover the essence of Islam.
